Applications create files all the time: invoices, reports, exports, images, backups, generated documents and data exchanged with other systems. Those files need somewhere to live.

ftpGrid provides managed cloud file storage without requiring you to build a storage service or operate a file server. Start with 100 MB of free storage and use it directly from your application, an automated process or familiar file transfer software.

One storage layer, multiple ways to access it

Your files are not locked behind a single protocol or client. The same storage can be accessed in different ways depending on what needs to work with it.

That makes ftpGrid useful as a common file storage layer between modern applications, older systems, automated jobs and people who simply need to exchange files.

What can you do with 100 MB?

100 MB is deliberately not a huge amount of storage. It is enough to build something real, connect your application, test an integration and work with smaller files without starting a paid subscription.

You could use it to store generated PDFs, application exports, test data, images, documents or files exchanged between two systems. You can upload and retrieve those files using the same interfaces available when your solution grows.

From application to storage — and back again

A file does not have to enter ftpGrid through FTP. Your application can upload it through the REST API, another system can retrieve it through SFTP, and the resulting file can be made available through HTTPS.

This is particularly useful when files move between systems that were built at different times and expect different interfaces. ftpGrid sits in the middle as the storage layer instead of forcing every system to speak the same protocol.

Free while you build

The free plan is not a 7-day, 14-day or 30-day trial. There is no countdown that starts when you create your account.

Use it while you write the code. Leave your prototype running. Test another approach next week. Come back when the rest of your application is ready.

The point of the free plan is to give you enough room to find out whether ftpGrid works for your application before you have to pay for it.

Free storage has limits — intentionally

The free plan includes 100 MB storage, 1 GB bandwidth, one FTP account and reduced request capacity. It is designed for development, prototypes, evaluation and small workloads rather than significant production traffic.

That distinction is intentional. ftpGrid is a commercial cloud storage service with a free entry point, not an unlimited free storage provider.

When your application becomes production-ready or starts needing more storage, bandwidth, accounts or request capacity, you can upgrade without moving your files or rebuilding the integration.

Your files are still your files

Free storage does not mean ftpGrid needs another way to monetize your data. We do not analyze, mine or sell information about the files you store.

The free plan is funded by customers who move larger and production workloads onto paid plans. That lets you take your time while building without turning your stored data into the product.
